First Love Never Dies

In 1982, I witnessed the remarkable changes in publication; still it is vivid in my mind how I used to layout a single page of a newspaper with used of letter transfer sticker. With the introduction of computers, typesetting became easy and the best part of it for every typing mistake there is delete key and if you don't like your layout you can just simply trashed it make a new one or if you want to redo the last actions there is undo key.

Since that year, I was so amazed how I adapt myself with new technology; although my college degree is Electrical Engineering since then I dedicate myself to visual designing.

In 1985, I was given a change to work as Layout Artist (Typesetter/Desktop Artist) and for four years I witnessed the remarkable changes that the computer has done in publications. Preparing a dummy is just a guide for us but everything is being done in the computer typesetting, photo retouching, text manipulations, and the best part of it, final layout is reflection of the finish product.

In 1990, I embarked to another journey, I started to accept jobs as Freelance Graphic Designer, since my talent fee is lower than the servicing company, I became very popular in the community and it became my full time job.

After two years, I received invitation from my former colleague in the university to teach her how to used the computer and she was so amazed of what the computer can do for writer like her.

With found enthusiasm, she introduced me to her friend and they invited me to be their training instructor for corporate individuals and eventually I landed as Computer Instructor in several schools and university. From 1992 to 1994, I have tried my best as a computer instructor and believe me I enjoy every moment of it, but there is a saying first love never dies.

In 1994, I saw another opportunity to work as a designer, this time, I am leading a six-man team of designer and where are specializing in design [client] servicing for different printing company and for two years and it became a big success story. In 1997, the company has transformed into a full pledge printing company, but the main core of the business is the design servicing. After several months, it became a one-stop printing shop.   Our motto is - what ever we can design we can print.

In 1999, the zenith of my career has reached its peak, I was introduced to a big time player in printing industry in our country [Philippines] and the owner of the company invited to be part of his team and for three years I worked with them as Pre-press Supervisor.

Sometime in September (2001), the company opened a full-pledge advertising agency specializing in brand and product development. I worked with them as Assistant Art Director, in less than a year, I was able to learn the rudiment of advertising works and I enjoyed every moment that I was there.

But sometime in May (2002), I pay the prized of being workaholic, I was diagnosed with heart problem due severed toxicity of on my blood cause hyperthyroidism. I leaved my job with heavy heart in June (2002).

In November 2002, my former colleague introduced me to a recruitment agency that is having placement for Senior Graphic Artist in United Arab Emirates and out 15 candidates I was selected for the job.

In December 2002, I have traveled from Manila to Dubai, to join in one of the leading perfume company in UAE as a Senior Graphic Artist and for three years, I have acquired the knowledge about retail branding, packaging innovation, product development, and perfume bottle designing. I was the head artist for cosmetics and mass-market perfume product design, and the lasting memory that I will always treasure with me is the chance to work in multi-cultural environment.

After three years and five months with Swiss Arabian Perfumery, I have resign from my job and currently I am working as a Creative Head in Taaheel FZ LLC, an event management company based on Knowledge Village, Dubai, UAE.
